Things To Take Into Consideration About Pub Interior Design
Public houses – better known as Pubs – are typically family run establishments that offer both beverages and meals in a bar environment. If you have ever been to a tree pub, then you will know how homey an atmosphere they have. There is not much loud music playing, there is typically no dance floor, and there may or may not be a tv set in the corner with the current sports game on. To this effect, your
pub interior design
is going to want to express this easy going environment.
The
pub interior design
of most of these establishments is typically warm and heavy on the wood side. Much warm wood paneling is typically found as an element of
pub interior design
so this can make decorating the walls of the establishment simpler if this is the look you are searching for. While wood paneling or tongue and grove slats might be fairly expensive, you can get the same effect by using a top quality wall paper or timber look parquet tiles that can adhere to the walls just as easily. The same can go for the flooring making it simpler to format your pub interior design and clean once the night is over.
The focal point of a lot of pubs is the long bar which typically takes up the length of one wall. How you design the area behind the bar is entirely up to you but one
pub interior design
concept you may want to take into account that looks to be consistent with a lot of establishments is the mirror. A mirror helps provide further lighting to your pub and gives it the feeling of being larger than it actually is. Your mirror doesn’t have to be large or take up the whole wall. The way you arrange it on the wall is key to achieving the complete effect.
Finally, the last thing you have to take into account in your pub interior design is seating. Small personal seating is the norm for pubs and whether or not you wish to include booths is entirely up to you. A mixture of square and round dining tables can provide you with a sense of variety and will allow you to set up a larger table if necessary for big groups. Most pub interior design schemes are laid out in such a way that the venue is warm, open, and inviting. And that is how a pub should be.

Dream Palaces: The Last Royal Courts of Europe $65 Throughout the 19th century, European royalty built extraordinary palaces to which they retreated from their “official” lives in St. Petersburg, Paris, Vienna, and elsewhere. This book offers a panorama of these fantastic estates, where leading architects, craftsmen, muralists, garden designers, and naturalists were employed at enormous expense to create a life of unsurpassed luxury. Many of the palaces are now legendary: Ludwig II’s famous Neuschwanstein, which dominates the Bavarian Alps; the “Alexandra Cottage” of Peterhof, the gift of Nicholas I to his wife; the lovely Castle of Miramare built for the ill-fated Archduke Maximilian, the short-lived emperor of Mexico. The palaces are “romantic” in every sense, as creations of their time, and as places suffused with nostalgic memory.Author Jérôme Coignard provides a brief overview of each royal family and their palace’s architecture and decoration, drawing on contemporary memoirs and letters. Marc Walter’s color photographs are accompanied by period interior views, watercolors, and family photographs. With information on visiting hours and directions to each of the palaces, this book offers a private tour through the last courts of Europe.Author Bio: Jérôme Coignard is a novelist, essayist, and contributor to numerous French magazines. Marc Walter is a photographer and graphic designer whose most recent books include Voyages around the World and Toile de Jouy. Markus of Habsburg-Lorraine, an Austrian archduke, is the current resident of Kaiser-villa in Bad-Ischl, built for his ancestor, the emperor Franz-Joseph I, in 1834. |

Interior Decorating: Decorate Like a Celebrity $1.99 “See How Easily And Cheap It Is DoTurn Your Ordinary House Into ACarbon Copy Of A Celebrity”Stop Spending All Of Your Money Trying To MakeYour House Look Elegant. Learn To DecorateLike A Celebrity At Only A Fraction Of The Cost Dear Friend:I opened up a magazine the other day and saw a picture of Faith Hill’s home. The photos were amazing! Her home was amazing! I found myself wondering how I could get the same look in my own home without having to shell out the money she probably did for her professional designer. As I sat and looked around my pretty boring living room, I became envious of Mrs. McGraw’s floral couch, her cleverly placed centerpieces, and her tastefully arranged artwork. It made me sad that all I had was a few apples in a Tupperware bowl gracing my yard sale coffee table. So I did what anyone would do – I went online and tried to find out how I could decorate just like the stars do. After checking out abut 10,000 Google matches, I gave up and had a sandwich instead. Deciding to give it just one more try, I sat down again at my keyboard and asked the Internet how I could decorate like a celebrity. And then I found it! The answers I needed in one convenient place: “Interior Decorating: Decorate Like a Celebrity”. Once I Read The First Few Pages of This Book, I Was Hooked!I started seeing past just four walls and some beige carpet and began envisioning a living room like Madonna’s, a dining room like Martha Stewart’s, and a bedroom like Britney Spears! After I read this book, I knew I could have the same beautiful decorating style as those famous people and still do it without spending my life savings. After just a little bit of reading, I found out:The Do’s and Don’ts of interior design How to get some great ideas The elements of |

Lifting the Curtain on Design $29.8 Simplify, Connect, Expand. These principles, each fundamental to the practice of design, provide the framework for interior designer Vicente Wolf’s engaging new book. Wolf is famous for his modern and elegant style, always guided by integrity and simplicity. Lifting the Curtain on Design delves into his selected themes from myriad viewpoints: through the prism of international travel, via the detailed focus on a single project, and finally by means of the sweeping perspective of a seasoned design mind.Wolf, an inveterate voyager, leaves his New York studio once a year to immerse himself in the culture of a distant land. In this volume, illustrated entirely with his own photographs, he recounts a trip to Namibia: with its sand dunes and sunsets, this southern African country is “a landscape that has been reduced to its essence.” A journey to Papua New Guinea makes clear the connections between cultures, as well as the connections that may be fostered through skilled design. And Bhutan is a lesson in expanding horizons and experiences. It is in Wolf’s design that the essence of his three principles, suggested in his travels, is fully illuminated. In a step-by-step account of two recent interiors—a traditional apartment and an open loft—Wolf describes his initial design process, the various phases of construction, the expert selection of color palettes and furniture, and the final installation of art and decorative objects. He also explains the development of the dramatic tablescapes for which he is so well known, which balance style, form, and color with humor and ease. Finally, a dazzling presentation of Wolf’s current projects touches on grand design gestures and minute yet indispensable details. Lifting the Curtain on Design offers a glimpse into the mind of the designer at work, from inspiration through implementation to unforgettable finished room. |

Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe & Lilly Reich $52.22 Businessman and art collector Hermann Lange kept an especially close friendship with architect Mies van der Rohe and the interior designer Lilly Reich, regularly sharing family, friends and each other’s company. Between 1927 and 1930, this mutually energizing association resulted in collaborative structures such as Lange’s own home, the famous Haus Lange in Krefeld, and the Crous apartment designed for Lange’s eldest daughter and her husband in Berlin–the decor and furnishings of which the couple took with them to all of their later apartments, even into the 1990s–down to the original bell plate. It is worth noting that van der Rohe did not successfully develop any contemporary furniture before or after his 13-year collaboration with Reich. This volume is the first to present many of van der Rohe’s and Reich’s furniture works, as well as the original decor from Haus Lange, now a museum, thus providing new insights into the fruitful collaborations of these two great designers. |

Mark Hampton: An American Decorator $60 A celebration of the career of the late interior designer Mark Hampton (1940–1998), whom the New York Times called “an icon of American Style.” In the tradition of Albert Hadley and David Hicks, this is a comprehensive look at the career of the late Mark Hampton, one of the most famous and admired American interior designers of the twentieth century. A classic American success story, Hampton grew up in small-town Indiana and went on to worldwide fame. He began his career working for some of the greatest interior designers of the age: Mrs. Henry Parish II, David Hicks, and McMillen, Inc. He later went on to design for such clients as Brooke Astor, Estee Lauder, Jacqueline Onassis, and the Henry Kissingers, in addition to his work on the White House, Camp David, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art, and the American Academy in Rome. Known for the tremendous depth and breadth of his knowledge, Hampton refused to be pigeonholed into a trademark style, moving effortlessly from sleek modernism to English country and back again. A highly popular lecturer who drew crowds, Hampton was also the author of two books, as well as a designer of both furniture and fabrics. Rich with original materials including Hampton’s watercolors, sketches, and notebooks, as well as hundreds of images of Hampton’s important commissions, and impeccably researched and intimately written by his widow, Duane Hampton, this will be a visual feast for everyone interested in interiors as well as an important addition to the history of interior design. |

PERCOLATIONS $9.99 Many a famous tale began with “Once upon a Time.” While yet others led off with “It was a dark and dreary night.” Each author, using these openings, was attempting to set the tone for his or her story and poem that followed. None of the stories or poetry that follow in this book set their tone with such epic or historic and yes sometimes hackneyed openings. Instead they all begin with what the individual author considered a fresh perspective on a subject of either his or her choosing or one chosen for him/her. In order to better understand this last statement, an explanation of how these authors came together to write such stories is required. In 2005, Milli Thornton, the author of the book Fear of Writing, for writers & closet writers, established a writing group in a back room of Chicki’s Coffee Shop in the small Texas Hill Country community of Bulverde. Each Tuesday morning this eclectic group of would-be authors gathered, and over coffee and a variety of pastries would write for two hours. The two retired school teachers, a nurse and federal agent along with, an Irish lass, and an interior designer/artist would write their stories and poems from prompts offered by Thornton in her book or from other sources such as Texas Public Radio or WritersDigest.com. Making liberal use of their literary licenses, these writers crafted their pieces from these prompts by either embodying the entire prompt or selecting key words and or phrases from these prompts. On a number of occasions the single word “the” was chosen from the prompt and woven into a tale. Or the writers would choose a subject that was of importance to them at that moment. A tale from one’s past; a rail against some minor injustice or poking fun at one of life’s inane situation became fodder for these authors. Just as important as the prompt or fertile material as Thornton refers to them as, was the understanding that the stories and poems, when read at the conclusion of each |

Rose Cumming $65 Rose Cumming was the most flamboyant and exciting of the so-called Great Lady Decorators who invented the field of professional decorating and interior design in the early twentieth century. Flavored by surrealism and suffused with drama, her interiors were sumptuous, mixing bold colors and patterns. Her own library had emerald-green walls, a peacock -blue satin sofa, and scarlet japanned chairs. Cumming”s famous New York decorating and antiques shop became a stopping point for celebrated personalities such as the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Andy Warhol, Rudolf Nureyev, and Jacqueline Onassis. Encompassing styles from gothic, Venetian, and Austrian baroque to early Oriental furniture, Cumming would add glittering chandeliers, birdcages, and fine carpets. Her glamorous style was reminiscent of film sets, and Marlene Dietrich and Norma Shearer were among her clients. This book, the first on Cumming, is a richly illustrated volume of a great American artist, whose influence is manifest in the ongoing production of Cumming-designed fabrics and wallpapers. Undecorate: The No-Rules Approach to Interior Design $40 Jettison the old rulebooks about home décor and “undecorate” your space. As the founder and creative director of DwellStudio—which is famous for its brightly colored, graphic textile designs for home furnishings—designer Christiane Lemieux challenges tradition in a quintessentially American way, championing a fresh, unconventional approach to creating a beautiful and comfortable home. Lemieux emboldens readers to push aside stuffy, professionally-designed décor, showing them instead how to infuse their own personality into their home.  Undecorate profiles twenty homes from all over the country, revealing their owners’ love of imperfection and penchant for surprise and unusual juxtapositions while inspiring readers to follow their own whimsy and practicalities in their personal spaces. An anglophile creates an English manor in Hollywood, mixing British flea-market finds with midcentury furniture. A car fanatic turns a vintage Airstream trailer into a master bedroom and situates it in the middle of a vast industrial loft in downtown Chicago. A couple transforms a log house in Nashville, Tennessee, by blending their modern and eclectic styles with the home’s rustic charm. Though the designs differ widely, the spaces all express an open-minded attitude. Some homes embrace their contexts, while others transcend them. All are shaped by instinct and imagination and share innovative ideas that readers can use to organically and elegantly create their home to match their lifestyle and tastes.  Lemieux gets to the essence of the homeowners’ distinctive styles, pinpointing the transformative ideas, thoughtful details, and useful solutions that make each home memorable. With more than 200 full-color photographs, Undecorate will both inspire and guide homeowners to a new outlook on home design.   |
