any idea for a cottage feel and thinking some ivy!?
i want to give our home a country cottage feeling and thought i would have ivy creeping up the side of the house.i’m planning on a slate roof. and several trees in the front of the home with a white picket fence around each. i don’t want the home looking too cute. i just want to add a little more character. does ivy grow quite fast and do think i will regret it? can you shape the ivy? [cut back] i don’t want the whole house covered in ivy. any cottage idea appreciated.

There are many things that climb besides Ivy or integrated with the Ivy. Morning glories and moon flowers require little to no maintenance. Both can be cut back and trained around wires or a trellis. Folk art shutters and window boxes also enhance the look.
