What is the traditional interior design for a home built 1920?

I’d like to know what was typical in interior design for a home in this period. I’m buying a cottage style home built in 1920, and I’d love to integrate some of the traditional style with my contemporary taste. What was popular in color, line, etc? Any suggestions for websites that I can check out would be so appreciated =) Thanks!

Design would be significant to the area and local resources. …For instance if there was a rock quarry nearby you would see stone walks. 1920 was the onset of the “Honeymoon Cottage” in the beach communities. You will find heavily influenced “Edwardian Period” and the beginnings of “Art Deco”. Egyptian and oriental influences were common. Black and reds were used in coloring and Bright green, jade, turquoise, eau-de-nil, mint or peacock blue or deep blue, are all really gorgeous colors of the time, and contrast nicely with a pale grey. The Arts and Crafts era post WW1 was in swing. Or you can replicate the highly sought after Gustav Stickley homes. The rich had Greene and Greene, Frank Lloyd Wright and others as their Arts & Crafts-style architects. The poorer folk built Sears and Aladdin “kit” homes.

Miniature house design. $49.99 This thesis is an action research study of a problem-based Mathematics, Science, and Technology unit with fifth grade students in a suburban town participating in a 21st CCLC afterschool program. The focus of the afterschool program typically directs students to work from a text aligned with the NYS standardized tests. During the course of this research, students would have worked on the math topics of geometry, algebra and measurement. Through my research of effective afterschool programs, I developed a problem-based unit addressing the same math topics to replace the text driven approach. I developed a unit designed to review skills, but through my pre-assessment strategy, I realized the skills supposedly learned in class were not evident. Students participated in the planning, designing, and construction of a three-dimensional miniature house designated to be donated to a health care office in a hospital. This MST action research documented the growth of three students. Standardized test questions were used to analyze the students’ growth in applying the concepts that were learned through problem-based lessons and hands-on experiences. The student built one house together, but the individual design challenge of designing interior rooms was completed with a partner. There were design projects embedded in a design portfolio comprised of lessons called knowledge skill builders (KSB). While designing the miniature house and interior rooms, students had to design according to constraints and specifications. Throughout this MST unit, students applied their conceptual knowledge in this project and successfully demonstrated mastery of the conceptual learning objectives of the unit. Students’ completion of the final product demonstrated the students’ interest and application of skills learned. By designing this house, students became more interested in how math is a part of our everyday lives, in addition to the conceptual gains they demonstrated.
